The artist in me needs to take a break every now and then and revive my creative spirit. What better place then the
Jemez Mountains in New Mexico where I go to relax with a friend and enjoy the
Santa Fe Opera. The theatre hugs the side of the Jemez Mountains at about 7500 feet above sea level. It’s very unique architecture lets you enjoy the mountain air while still sitting under cover.

There is no “stage back” unless built into the set. The planet Venus is usually rising while the orchestra is warming up! While I was there for several performances this season, a spectacular sunset greeted us as we headed for our seats.

At home, my art studio is always filled with wonderful classical music (mostly Mozart). And music is an essential component of our ecards. I was most pleased by the productions we saw this year. They were “The Magic Flute” by Mozart, “The Tales of Hoffman” by Offenbach, and “Albert Herring” by Britten. We really enjoyed Kate Lindsey in the role of the muse in Tales of Hoffman, and Alek Shrader in the title role in “Albert Herring”. We are looking forward to incorporating some of these “tunes” in our new ecards coming this Holiday season.
