The unexpected warm weather early this April has all the cherries, plums and magnolias here in my garden in full bloom. The song sparrow has returned again to nest in the barbarry by the garden path. His song is so sweet. I also saw my first robin and listened to his call. It is such a song of renewal! Listening to their songs while out gardening led me to develop these new pieces for my print and decorative box companies.
Spring is my favorite time of year. As I write this, the daffodils are nodding their heads and the narcissus have just opened. The blue bells by my studio steps are opened also.
A few minutes away from the studio, there is a hillside completely covered with blue bells that naturalized there. Probably someone threw some "over the bank" and they just took off. I imagine this field would be something like one that Van Gogh or Monet could have viewed.
With all the early spring bulbs, you have to be quick and sketch these flowers as soon as they open, as they won't be there for long!
